On conventional hosting products, your website runs on a single server. When this server fails, your website goes offline immediately. The same is the case if the server needs to go down for maintenance.
On the Pro and Enterprise plans, our managed hosting platform deploys the code of your Drupal or WordPress application automatically to a pool of at least two web application servers. A load balancer distributes incoming web requests between these servers. Should one of them go offline, the load balancer will take it out of the distribution pool until it becomes responsive again. This ensures that partial outages or planned maintenance work will not impact your website visitors.
All web application boxes use a HA storage cluster to store asset files and a high-performance database cluster to store configuration details and website content.
